All pupils in the Learning Support Centre have been formally assessed and hold Statements of Special Educational Need because of their Moderate Learning Difficulties.

Most of our pupils transfer from Kilkeel Primary School, but some are not statemented until after transfer. Sometimes pupils have not undergone formal assessment until after coming to high school.

Each pupil is seen as an individual and an appropriate Integration Programme is drawn up for him, within the constraints of timetables and class numbers.

The work presented to them is suited to their level of ability. Goals are realistic and measurable. They are given opportunities to succeed and should be able to view their own progress.
