GCSE  Double Award Course

The course involves
·      doing practical work
·      investigating the part played by people in business
·      investigating different types of business
·      identifying the costs and revenues of businesses

There are three parts to the course:

Unit 1  :  Investigating Business

This is based on work presented in a portfolio and marked by the teachers:

·      investigating different types of business and their aims;

·      enquiring about the way businesses are organised;

·      investigating how businesses are affected by outside influences.

Unit 2  :  People and Business

This is based on work presented in a portfolio and marked by the teachers:

·      understanding the roles played by people in business

·      investigating the part played by employers and employees

·      enquiring about recruitment and training

·      applying for your first job

Unit 3  -  Business Finance

This is based on an examination set and marked by CCEA:

·      identifying the main costs and revenues of a business

·      learning about the profit and loss account

·      estimating costs and revenues

·      calculating the point when a business makes a profit
