Physical Education

Physical Education and sport play a major role in the life of Kilkeel High School.

Physical education classes take place in our gymnasium and assembly hall where our pupils take part in a variety of activities. These include, gymnastics, basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, hockey, aerobics and indoor games.

During the summer months, physical education classes take place out of doors – weather permitting athletic skills are taught and inter-house competitions takes place (sports day). After Sports day our pupils have the opportunity to play tennis and softball.

Swimming classes take place in the nearby leisure centre where our Year 8 pupils are taught to swim all three swimming strokes. They also develop the basic skills and awareness of water safety.

At the end of their lessons a Swimming Gala is organised for all of Year 8 pupils and the competition is keen for swimmers and beginners.
