Welcome to the languages department!!

The aims and objectives of this department are as follows:

1. To develop the ability to use the language effectively for practical communication.

2. To form a sound base of the skills required for further study, work and leisure.

3. To assist each pupil to achieve to the highest of his ability in public examinations.

4. To offer insight into the culture and civilisation of countries where the language is spoken.

5. To develop an awareness of the nature of language and language learning.

6. To provide enjoyment and intellectual stimulation.

7. To encourage positive attitudes to foreign language learning and to speakers of foreign languages.

8. To promote learning skills of a more general application (e.g. memorising, drawing of inference...)

9. To develop the pupils’ understanding of themselves and their own culture.
