Homework

Written homeworks are set regularly, in accordance with the school’s Homework Policy, to reinforce learning that has taken place in class and to check the pupils’ understanding. Homework may also be given to individual pupils to provide extra learning time when they have been unable to complete a task in class. Learning homeworks, e.g. spellings, reading practice or tables are also set.

It is hoped that pupils will develop personal organisational skills and the ability to complete tasks with some independence.

Homeworks are short, unambiguous, relevant and useful.

Feedback is given as soon as possible, both orally and in writing.

Opportunity is given for extra, voluntary homeworks to be done.

Children should be encouraged to read as much as possible.

The advice of the Educational Psychologist is followed in relation to homework.
